The Vaquero players recently supported and worked during the Special Olympics held at Irvine Stadium. Here is a note from them, thanking us for our service:
Dear Coach Terry and The Irvine High School Football Team,
We here at Special Olympics Orange County would like to say thank you for your participation and hard work at the Spring Regional Games. Your team was a huge help in the afternoon helping to take down everything for the day's events; along with participating in Bocce, Track and Field and even doing some security! The team showed promptness, integrity, and did non-stop work with absolutely no complaining. This organization depends on volunteers to help run the events and make them successful. Without your help, we would not be able to put on these games and give our athletes a chance to compete and achieve their goals. Thank you for taking the time, giving your energy, and being committed to a movement that gives individuals with an intellectual disability a chance to shine.
Michael Schwartz
Volunteers and Special Events Manager

Duchenne is a progressive muscle disease that impacts 1 in 3,500 boys. CureDuchenne, a nonprofit that raises awareness and funds research to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, created a new video to show the urgency of finding a cure for Duchenne. The video features several Duchenne families and shows the progression of Duchenne, the most common and lethal muscle disease in children. Wil Cook, who is featured on the video, is an honoroary Irvine Vaquero Football player and we are committed to helping Cure Duchenne any way we can. Click the link below to view the inspirational video which illustrates the hope and how close we are to finding a cure:
